looped in
Looped In is a series of three workshops inviting people to engage in topics relevant to their work. Informed by Double Loop’s areas of expertise—research and data, communications, strategy and planning—these hour-long sessions are designed for people working across nonprofits, foundations, corporate philanthropy, government, or civic engagement groups. Two workshops are offered virtually, while the final session will be held in person in San Antonio, Texas.
These workshops are offered on a sliding scale; we ask you to choose the ticket price that best matches what you are able to pay.

Data is only as good as the actions it inspires. In this virtual presentation, we’ll share community data alongside a fresh analysis that highlights the impact of government budget cuts and imagines what it would take to still realize an alternative, more abundant future. What would happen, for example, if all businesses paid people a living wage, people afforded their homes, and health care was truly realized for everybody? We’ll complement the community data with compelling stories to inspire deeper-level thinking and action, and we’ll discuss how you might use this data in your day-to-day work. This session will be especially interesting to people who analyze and/or communicate data in their work.

Inspiring messages rely on three core components: the message itself, the way the message is visualized, and the delivery of the message. In this 1-hour virtual presentation, we'll discuss how to prepare all three and become the most compelling public speaker. Participants are encouraged to attend with a public speaking engagement in mind. This might be an existing presentation you want to strengthen, an elevator pitch you’ve been day-dreaming about, or a speech you have to make soon. Participants will learn how to craft clear and compelling narratives that engage their desired audience and strengthen their capacity to translate their work to broader audiences.

For years, nonprofits have faced never-ending unprecedented times. Too many are experiencing funding cuts on every level and negotiating how to fulfill their missions without the meaningful language and practices of equity and belonging. All the while, the people nonprofits serve continue to need their care and services. This interactive workshop invites nonprofit staff, board members, and funders to unearth strategies to face the times. Note: we welcome nonprofit staff across all levels of organizational hierarchy.
Participants will learn a way to think about the health and sustainability of their work through times of uncertainty and fear, and gain a broader understanding of the shared and distinct concerns about the future from area nonprofits. We will use future planning questions to guide our discussion, including:
What practices no longer work, but we continue to do them?
What’s impossible today but if possible changes everything?
What do we have to risk, compromise, or negotiate to achieve an alternative future?
